Thunderbird for Windows Email Setup
Use this guide to set up your email account in Mozilla Thunderbird on a Windows computer.

Before You Start
Before setting up your email account, make sure you have:
- Your full email address
- Your email password
- A working internet connection
- Mozilla Thunderbird installed on your computer
We recommend using IMAP because it keeps your email synced across your devices.
Email Server Settings
Incoming Mail
Server: imap.emailpnl.com
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal password
Outgoing Mail
Server: smtp.emailpnl.com
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal password
If port 465 does not work for outgoing mail, try port 587 with STARTTLS.
Username: Use your full email address.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open Mozilla Thunderbird on your Windows computer.
- If Thunderbird asks you to add an account, choose the option to set up an existing email account.
- Enter your name.
- Enter your full email address.
- Enter your email password.
- Choose manual setup if Thunderbird does not find the correct settings automatically.
- For the incoming server type, choose IMAP.
- For the incoming server, enter imap.emailpnl.com.
- For the incoming port, enter 993.
- Set incoming security to SSL/TLS.
- Set incoming authentication to Normal password.
- For the outgoing server, enter smtp.emailpnl.com.
- For the outgoing port, enter 465.
- Set outgoing security to SSL/TLS.
- Set outgoing authentication to Normal password.
- Make sure the username is your full email address.
- Click Done or Re-test if Thunderbird asks to check the settings.
- Send yourself a test email to make sure sending and receiving both work.
Common Problems
Thunderbird cannot find my settings automatically
This is okay. Choose manual setup and enter the server settings shown above.
I can receive email but cannot send email
This usually means the outgoing mail settings are incorrect. Check the outgoing server,
port, security, and authentication settings.
Outgoing server: smtp.emailpnl.com
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal password
Thunderbird keeps asking for my password
Make sure the username is your full email address and that the password is correct.
The outgoing server does not work on port 465
Try using port 587 with STARTTLS for outgoing mail.
