Apple Mail for Mac Email Setup
Use this guide to set up your email account in the Mail app on a Mac.

Before You Start
Before setting up your email account, make sure you have:
- Your full email address
- Your email password
- A working internet connection
- Access to the Mail app on your Mac
We recommend using IMAP because it keeps your email synced across your devices.
Email Server Settings
Incoming Mail
Account Type: IMAP
Server: imap.emailpnl.com
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing Mail
Server: smtp.emailpnl.com
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
If port 465 does not work for outgoing mail, try port 587 with STARTTLS.
Username: Use your full email address.
Webmail:
https://webmail.emailpnl.com
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open the Mail app on your Mac.
- From the menu bar, choose Mail, then Add Account.
- Select Other Mail Account.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your name.
- Enter your full email address.
- Enter your email password.
- Click Sign In.
- If Mail says the account name or password cannot be verified, enter the server settings manually.
- Set the account type to IMAP.
- For the incoming mail server, enter imap.emailpnl.com.
- For the outgoing mail server, enter smtp.emailpnl.com.
- Make sure the username is your full email address.
- Click Sign In or Next.
- Select the apps you want to use with this account, such as Mail.
- Click Done.
- Send yourself a test email to make sure sending and receiving both work.
Common Problems
Apple Mail says the account cannot be verified
This is common during setup. Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings manually.
I can receive email but cannot send email
This usually means the outgoing mail settings are incorrect. Check the outgoing server,
port, and security setting.
Outgoing server: smtp.emailpnl.com
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
Apple Mail keeps asking for my password
Make sure the username is your full email address and that the password is correct.
The outgoing server does not work on port 465
Try using port 587 with STARTTLS for outgoing mail.
