Gmail for Android Email Setup

Use this guide to set up your email account in the Gmail app on an Android phone or tablet. Watch the video, then follow the written steps below.

Before You Start

Before setting up your email account, make sure you have your full email address, email password, and a working internet connection.

We recommend using IMAP because it keeps your email synced across your devices.

Email Server Settings

Incoming Mail

Account Type: IMAP

Server: imap.emailpnl.com

Port: 993

Security: SSL/TLS

Outgoing Mail

Server: smtp.emailpnl.com

Port: 465

Security: SSL/TLS

If port 465 does not work for outgoing mail, try port 587 with STARTTLS.

Username: Use your full email address.

Webmail: https://webmail.emailpnl.com

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Gmail app on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Tap your profile icon or menu, then choose Add another account.
  3. Choose Other.
  4. Enter your full email address.
  5. Choose Personal IMAP if asked.
  6. Enter your email password.
  7. For the incoming mail server, enter imap.emailpnl.com.
  8. For the incoming port, use 993.
  9. For the outgoing mail server, enter smtp.emailpnl.com.
  10. For the outgoing port, use 465.
  11. Use your full email address as the username.
  12. Finish the setup and save the account.
  13. Send yourself a test email to make sure sending and receiving both work.

Common Problems

Gmail cannot connect to the server

Check that the incoming and outgoing server names are typed correctly.

I can receive email but cannot send email

Check the outgoing server settings. The outgoing server should be smtp.emailpnl.com using port 465 with SSL/TLS.

My password is not working

Make sure you are using your full email address and the correct email password.
